As a reward to myself for graduating college, my friends and I toured Venice. I fell in love with Venice the moment I arrived. My friends and I would hang out at cafes along the canals, sip wine, do a little sketching, and make plans for our future. I remember the colors the sunshine made on the sparkling cerulean blue water. One of my favorite memories was watching the couples as they passed by in gondolas, the gondolier would sing so romantically as the pair would embrace each other. The stroke of the gondolier's oar would make a sweet lapping sound along the hull of the gondola. As I close my eyes, I am taken away again..............

John Newton wrote the lyrics to "Amazing Grace". John realized early that by the grace of God he was spared one night during a violent storm at sea. The words from this popular Christian hymn inspire many people and remind them of God's divine grace. I was inspired by this song and wrote some of the words from the lyrics in the background.
We've had a few spring-like days recently and I'm just itching to get outside and spruce up my garden for spring. I would love to take my field easel outside and paint in my rose garden, down at the pier, or paint as I kayak around the lake.
