The First Dance
Josh and Jordan, I hope that you enjoy this portrait of "The First Dance" as Mr. and Mrs. Raynor. You had a beautiful wedding and your reception was a lovely magical night full of celebrating the beginning of your new journey together. When I saw the two of you dancing, I knew right then what I wanted to do for the two of you. May your life together be filled with beautiful colors.

Wam Squam
So why has it been almost three months since my last post? I've been at my trusty easel working on commissions, hopefully soon I'll be caught up and will post them. Here's one painting that I finished just last week, and oh it brings so many memories. The Wam Squam was quite the hot spot for our little White Lake community and for the seasonal tourists. I feel like it helped bring up my boys, I would stop there many times for breakfast and gas before going to school, we loved their sausage and ham biscuits!
The Wam Squam, which means "white water" was a major White Lake landmark, I can't remember how many times I gavc directions and used "turn right at the Wam Squam". A wonderful place to catch up on the latest gossip and get ice cream and candy.
Oh Wam Squam I miss you, you will always have a place in my heart!

Rain and cold weather prevented me from painting en plein air today so I attempted painting alla prima, Italian for "first attempt" or wet-on-wet. This painting technique requires the artist to paint layers of wet paint over layers of wet paint and it dates back to the Impressionists period. Monet and Van Gogh were known for their "on the spot" painting, usually finishing a painting in one sitting. "I Love You" is a painting I started this morning, painting very quickly, in the warmth of my home studio. The subject (very popular at this time of the year) was painted from the dozen red roses my husband gave me for Valentine's Day.

"Happy Valentine's Day"
This Valentine's Day I am offering a series of hand-painted Valentine cards for your sweetheart. These high quality fine Strathmore cards have deckled edges and come with white envelopes, they measure 5"x7" and can be given as a card, then framed if desired.
Crystal fluorescent pinks, roses and reds are accented with white ink and silver foil. No two cards are identical.
Truly special.

"Heart of the Ocean"
This sweetheart mermaid is the "Heart of the Ocean" as she bobs along the turquoise ocean crafting a Valentine floral garland. Adorned with a big sweet shiny heart crown, she really is the heart of the ocean.

"Turtle Kisses"
"Turtle Kisses" is my third painting in my 2012 Sweetheart Mermaid series. This little mermaid loves turtles and they love her.
